Memorial Hospitals Home Care Named to 2010 HomeCare Elite
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center today announced that its Home Care service has been named to the 2010 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States, for the fifth consecutive year. Now in its fifth year, the HomeCare Elite identifies the top 25 percent of agencies and further highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall. Winners are ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement, and financial performance.

Light Up a Life for Family Palliative Care!
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Centers Family Palliative Care is offering everyone an opportunity to Light Up a Life and decorate a community Christmas tree with special ornaments in memory/honor/celebration of loved ones! The Christmas tree will be on display at Hometown IGA at The Crossing in Jasper beginning November 26th until New Years Day. For a $5 donation, a dove ornament will be inscribed in honor, in memory, or in celebration of a friend, relative, or loved one -- anyone whom the donor wishes to have honored or remembered. Donation forms are available at the customer service desk at Hometown IGA at The Crossing and at the Information Desk at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Start the New Year Right with Healthy Start Wellness Coaching!
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is offering a program for those who are ready to make a positive change and improve their overall health. The Healthy Start coaching program is a series of phone conversations with a wellness coach to determine how the participant wants to improve his or her health over a twelve-week period by setting realistic wellness goals that focus on nutrition, fitness, stress, and general health concerns.

Zumba Fitness Program

Choosing physical activities that you enjoy will help you stick with them. Zumba, a fitness program offered by Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, combines fast and slow Latin rhythms with dance moves that are easy to follow, energizing and toning the body while burning calories.

Many years ago, Charlotte Donan experienced firsthand the benefits of a healing garden. It was during the past two years that she and Beth Dawkins teamed up to develop a healing garden at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. Their vision of creating a tranquil outdoor space on the hospital campus has now been transformed into existence.

After working at St. Josephs Hospital in Huntingburg for thirty-five years and at Gibson General Hospital in Princeton for six years, Tonya Heim, RN, CIC, MHA, MSN was recently named Vice President Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Memorial Hospital Announces New Partnership with University of Louisville
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has established a new partnership with University of Louisville Stroke Center. The expertise of the stroke neurologists at University of Louisville Hospital is now available to patients at Memorial Hospital through the use of telerobotic medicine. This technology allows the UofL stroke neurologist to virtually be in the patients room along with Memorial Hospital staff to see, hear, and examine the patient in real-time and make appropriate medical recommendations as a team.

Memorial Hospitals Cardiac Lab Re-accredited
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Centers Cardiac Lab has been re-accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories through 2013 after voluntarily participating in the accreditation process. In receiving this accreditation, the Cardiac Lab has been recognized for its commitment to providing quality work in the ultrasound arena.

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center offers stroke screenings as a service to heighten awareness of carotid artery disease and to help prevent its potentially devastating effects through lifestyle changes, medication, or in severe cases, carotid endarterectomy (surgical removal of plaque). The screenings are offered on a weekly basis at Memorial Hospital Cardiovascular Services at 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper.

MRI Unit Re-Accredited By American College Of Radiology
After voluntarily participating in a rigorous review process, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Centers MRI unit has been re-accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) through 2013 for head, spine, body, MSK and MRA.In receiving this accreditation, Memorial Hospital has met all of the testing criteria for clinical image quality and phantom image quality.

Interest-Free Payment Program for Hospital Patients
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has announced a new partnership with CarePayment, an innovative program designed to provide patients with the ability to have more financial control over payment of their hospital expenses. The new partnership enables Memorial Hospitals patients to pay for their hospital services at 0% interest over a 25-month period.

Five Pediatric Nurses Earn CPN Certification
Five nurses from the Pediatric Unit at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center recently received Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification after successfully completing the Certified Pediatric Nurse Exam developed and administered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Currently, 70% of the staff on the Pediatric Unit is either CPN certified or certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
