When taking a class we ask that you use yarn purchased here at Unwind. Each purchase you make at Unwind ensures that we can continue to offer classes and yarn at a reasonable price as well as stay in business. Classes and projects are also designed to work with specific yarns and may not translate directly to yarns we do not stock.

Beginning Crochet: This class is for the true beginner. We will learn to chain, single crochet and double crochet. We will begin a scarf. Class meets Sat. from 10:30-12 Nov 13th, 20th and Dec 4th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Carol Scott.

Beginning Knitting I: This class is for the true beginner. We will learn to cast on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and casting off. We will begin a scarf. Class meets Sat. from 1-2:30 Sept 11th, 18th and 25th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Julie Shank.

Beginning Knitting II: This is a continuation for beginning knitting I. It would be a good refresher class for someone who has not knit for a while or has only made flat things and wants to branch out. We will make a basic hat learning to use circular needles and double points. We will do ribbing and learn decreasing. Class meets Sat. from 1-2:30 Oct 2nd, 9th, and 16th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructors Vicki Hair and Julie Shank.

Bella Mittens: Have you seen the movie-gotta have the mittens? This would make a wonderful Christmas gift. This class is for an intermediate knitter. Done on double points we will learn to cable, do a thumb gusset, decreases and increases as well as kitchner the top of the mitten. Class meets Sat 10:30-12 Oct 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Julie Shank.

Christmas Stocking II: This is a continuation of the previous class. We will study a little color theory and use a variety of colors and additional charts to create our own unique patterns. Class meets Sat from 3-4:30 Oct 23rd, 30th and Nov 6th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Vicki Hair.

Coble Cable Cardigan: Intermediate Beginner. This is the pattern that Helen Coble from Yarn and Yardage taught as a beginning knitting class. This sweater is knit on large needles with bulky weight yarn. You need to know the basics of knit and purl. We will learn ribbing, increasing, decreasing, cabling, picking up stitches, blocking and seaming. Class meets Saturday from 1-2:30 Oct 23rd, 30th, Nov 6th, 13th, 20th and Dec 4th. Cost is $45 plus materials (pattern is included) Instructor Vicki Hair.

Felted Clogs: Every member of your family will want a pair of these. We will learn to follow a pattern, increasing, decreasing, and wraps & turns. The last class will be the felting of the clogs. Class meets Saturdays from 10:30-12 Sept. 11th, 18th, 25th, and Oct 2nd. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Julie Shank.

Flounce Scarf: In this one day session we will learn to use the Flounce tape yarn to make a fabulous ruffled accent scarf great for gift giving. Class meets Saturday Oct 9th from 10:30-12. Cost is $10 plus materials.

Toe Up Socks: This class is for the sock knitter that would like to learn additional techniques used in toe up socks. We will use the pattern in Sensational Knitted Socks or you may provide a pattern of your choice. We will accomplish the “easy toe” and the short row heel and look at other methods for toes and heels. Class meets Saturdays 3-4:30 Nov 13th, 20th and December 4th. Cost is $35 plus materials. Instructor Vicki Hair.

Small Gifty Projects: Saturday Dec 18th. We will have a couple of quick cute projects for you to choose from or bring your own last minute knitting project. Drop in. Cost is $10.

Come One, Come All !
A new group is meeting 2nd and 4th Tuesdays from 5 to 7 pm. Until a new name is suggested we are calling the group “Selfish Knitters” as we meet the opposite Tues nights from the group of charity knitters known as “Loops of Love”. Selfish knitters and crocheters are welcome as we share our projects, chat, and carve out a bit of time to knit what we want.

Loops of Love is a group open to all. We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 5-7pm. We knit and crochet blankets, hats, baby sweaters, and mittens for various local charities.

Saturday Dec 11th from 1-3
Cookies, Hot Cider, and Knitting Friends it doesn’t get any better than this.
Bring something that you have knit for show and tell.
