has a long history of service to the surrounding area.
The original burial ground was on the south side of State Road 46 and is now known as Chambers of Layman Cemetery. The earliest burial there was in 1828. That cemetery is now on private property.
The Cemetery Association was established in 1888. By that time the new cemetery was being developed at its present site at the northwest corner of State Road 46 and the Owen-Monroe County Line Road.
In 1993 a large bequest of money and land from the estate of May (Chambers) Worman enabled Chambersville to plan for long-range development, maintain the grounds in the present state of serene beauty and go forward with expansion into another 85 acres. The future is secure.
