Off-Leash Dog Run to Open Saturday
The City of Mishawaka and the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Board will hold a very special ribbon cutting Ceremony at 9:30am on Saturday October 30th, to open the City of Mishawaka’s new off-leash dog run. The City of Mishawaka has had numerous requests over the past few years for a place where dogs can be taken to run. In August of this year, the City Park and Recreation Board approved the plans for the off-leash dog run at Prickett Marina Park. The run is located at Margaret Prickett Marina Park, which is on the south side of Jefferson Boulevard between Wyland Marine and Boone State Fish Hatchery, across from the AM General Assembly Plant.
Mishawaka Honoring 2010 Indiana Apprentice of the Year
Mayor Dave Wood and General Manager of Utilities James Schrader announced today that the Mishawaka Utilities Electric Division will announce and honor Robert (Chuck) Bailey at the Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10:00am in Room 205 at Mishawaka City Hall, 600 E. 3rd Street. Bailey was selected as the 2010 Indiana Apprentice of the Year for the State of Indiana. He received the award at the Annual Indiana Municipal Electric Association Awards Banquet on October 6, 2010 in Indianapolis.
Mayor Dave Wood announced today that the Mishawaka Central Services Division will begin the city’s annual fall leaf pick-up program on Monday, October 18th. This means that Mishawaka residents may begin raking leaves to their curbside starting the weekend of October 16-17th.
River Water Levels to Be Restored
With maintenance at the Twin Branch Hydroelectric Plant being completed earlier than originally anticipated, Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) will begin to slowly restore water levels along the St. Joseph River to normal conditions beginning Saturday afternoon, Oct. 9. Beginning the restoration of water levels on Oct. 9 is in compliance with the conditions of permits received for the work and consultations with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR).
