Saturday, October 30, 7:30 am: Mens Veterans Breakfast
All men are welcome to join us. Coffee will be served at 7:30 am with breakfast at 8am. The breakfast will honor all of our men and women who have served or are serving in a branch of our armed forces. Please invite all your Veteran friends. RSVP with George Rusnak at 336-5612 by the Wednesday before the Saturday breakfast to ensure that there is enough food for everyone.
Sunday, October 31, 10:30 am: Referendum Education Forum
Facilitated by Harmon Baldwin, past Superintendent of the Monroe County Community School Corporation. Do you have questions about education funding, and WHY a referendum? Do you know how it can affect YOU, pass or fail? Come to Room 8 this Sunday, between services, to join, past MCCSC Superintendent (and First United Methodist Church member), Harmon Baldwin. Harmon will facilitate a Q & A, and an overview of school funding in MCCSC & the referendum. Partisan speeches are not a part of this; this is meant for voter education. Friday, November 5, noon: World Community Day
World Community Day, organized by Church Women United, will be celebrated at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, at 2411 E. Second Street. Bible Study begins at noon, with the program following at 1:00 pm. All women are invited.

Sunday, November 7: All-Saints Day Remembrance with music lead by Malcolm Dalglish
We will celebrate All-Saints Day in both worship services. We also welcome Bloomington composer and hammer dulcimer player, Malcolm Dalglish, who will help lead our music in worship that day. Malcolm brings a spiritual depth to his music and reflections. As part of the All-Saints service we will name and light a candle of remembrance for each person, in the St. Marks fellowship, who has died in the past year. We also will invite all in the congregation to remember other loved ones, and light a candle celebrating their lives and the gifts they brought to the world.
Sunday, November 7, 7:00 pm: Music with Malcolm Dalglish
As part of our Spirituality and the Arts series, St. Marks will host Bloomington composer and hammer dulcimer player, Malcolm Dalglish. Malcolm will share with us music and reflections from his song cycle, Hymnody of Earth, a work based on the words of Wendell Berry, whose poetry over the past half century provides us a vision of a sustainable relationship with nature and each other. There will be time for questions and discussion, and an opportunity to meet Malcolm and the performers after the program. This event is free and open to the public.
Sunday, November 7, 2:00 pm: Winter Shelter Volunteers
Help is needed again to coordinate the Interfaith Winter Shelter. This program provides warm beds for the homeless during the months of November through March. New volunteers need to complete a three-hour training. The next training session is:

Sunday, November 21, 7:00 pm: Commercialization of Kids
You are invited to join a free public screening of Consuming Kids: The Commercialization of Childhood.This film presents information about the cradle to grave marketing strategies that bombard our children every waking moment, with more than 25,000 advertisements on TV alone, not including product placement or advertising done on the Internet, cell phones, video games, school buses, food products, and in schools.
November 20-December 4: Time, Talent, Treasure Auction
Support our Nursery School/Kindergarten by bidding on the many Time, Talent, and Treasure contributions from the nursery school families.We have a little bit of everything for you to bid onphoto shoots, chocolate cheesecake, chauffeured Hudson ride, Italian dinner for 6, gift wrapping, a childrens tea party, family cabin rental, breakfast rolls, handmade items, and much more!Look for the auction displays in Garton Hall.
Saturday, November 20, 6:00 pm: Parents Night Out
Parents, do you need a night out? Have your preschool through 2nd grade children come and join us at the church. We will eat pizza, watch Wizard of Has (Veggie Tales), and then play some active group games. Pick upis at 8:30 pm. The cost is $5.00. Feel free to bring a friend or two. Sunday, November 28, 5:00 pm: Advent Kickoff and Hanging of the Greens
Individuals and families are invited to an evening of supper, songs, crafts, and the Hanging of the Greens. We will share a pasta dinner (a welcome relief after all that turkey), followed by decorating the church. Crafts will be available for preschoolers and elementary-aged children. Older elementary children and youthwill assemble the Christmas MUSH Tree, which willbe the collection spot for emergency wear for MCUM winter services. The evening will close with Christmas carols and lighting the first Advent wreath together. We should finish around 7:00 pm. Note for Children & Youth Wanting to Participate in the Christmas Pageant
You can choose your Christmas Pageant costume at the Advent Kickoff and Hanging of the Greens on Sunday, November 28. Well have people there who can help with sizing, etc. If you cant be there on the 28th, well find another time for you to choose a costume.
