Though the Church of Christ finds its roots in an event that occurred more than two thousand years ago, it’s existence and work is still as current as today’s newspaper headlines. Our ongoing mission is to teach God’s Word to a world desperately in need of His love and forgiveness, while at the same time providing safe harbor and encouragement for Christians seeking to make His cause central in their lives.
The members of the Washington Avenue congregation believe that God has revealed His vision for the church in various Bible passages (Eph. 3:10, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:42, Eph. 4:12-16 and James 1:27 to cite but a few) and that these are still the guiding light for the church today. At Washington Avenue you will find a Bible-believing church, devoting itself to the apostolic teachings of the New Testament…just as the first century Christians did. Our worship seeks to glorify God in the way described in the New Testament.
Christians, working together at Washington Avenue, strive to serve the Master in all ways possible. Among these different efforts, you will find us teaching God’s Word and ministering to our neighbors, community and the world at large. We invite you to be a part of our ministry.
