Heidi became more than she expected...a new mother and a cancer survivor.
Heidi was expecting her fourth child when she discovered a lump in her breast. Because she had a family history of breast cancer, her physician recommended ending the pregnancy to proceed with cancer treatment.
But Heidi wanted other options. She came to the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center. Dr. George Sledge and the breast cancer team offered Heidi hope and a treatment plan to save her and her baby. Heidi was cancer free when she delivered her beautiful, healthy baby boy.
