Thank you for visiting Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Assembly online. Christ Temple was the first Pentecostal church built in the Midwest, and the year 2008 marked the celebration of its century year of existence! Its history traces back to 1906 when a small mission met in "an old tin shop" in Indianapolis, Indiana. The mission's overseer, Brother Glenn A. Cook, was one of the persons involved in the revival that began at an Azusa Street Mission in Los Angeles, California in 1906, a meeting which ushered in the Pentecostal movement throughout the country.

Bishop Garfield Thomas Haywood began his career as pastor in 1908 and became the founder of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Assembly. Through its continued growth, it became and remained the only genuinely interracial church in the city. Internationally known as the "Mother Church" of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (P.A.W.), it continues, as in the beginning, to be involved in the Home and Foreign Missions Fields. Just as a mother nurtures her young the programs have specifically aided and supported other assemblies, spreading the gospel throughout the city, state and country.

Christ Temple has been at its current location, 430 West Fall Creek Parkway, Indianapolis, Indiana, for over eighty years and has stood as a beacon light, always endeavoring to be a haven and godly example to multitudes in the city and state, as well as the country. Its overall mission is to exhibit love, and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world, while serving mankind through outreach ministries. Among others, our outreach program includes such ministries as: back-to-school give-a-ways, educational scholarships, a domestic violence advocacy program, a women's support group, and a weekly program designed to assist the homeless and the less fortunate individuals in the community. Since the death of Bishop Haywood in 1931, each successive pastor has continued to adhere to the fundamental belief of holiness and the Oneness Doctrine.

Our current pastor, Suffragan Bishop Charles M. Finnell, has capably and faithfully served since 2002.
