UBC has been a church home to students, student families and Bloomington townspeople for over 40 years. Our alumni now live and worship all over the world. We like to describe ourselves as traditional in our commitment to historic Baptist principles and progressive with regard to congregational life and worship. If you are looking for a local church in which to worship and serve, we'd love to have you. If you are interested in learning about Christian faith, UBC is a good place to begin.
In June of 2010, I will begin my 23rd year of ministry. Who would have thought a kid like me, from Bedford, Indiana, would end up pastoring a church just up the road from my childhood home? God alone, of course. Otherwise the very thought of it is just silly! Yet, here I am and here we are, still together after all these years. Yes, we are together and we are still working to be "a safe place to sort it out" for people who are exploring faith and a place to to pray, grow and serve for followers of Jesus. We try to accept each other as Jesus taught and to love each other as Jesus showed. We do pretty well and, of course, we have lots of room to grow.
If you are exploring faith, looking for a church home, or returning after time away, we want to welcome you, to offer a resting place from the world, and new strength to return again. It's what we do? and we'd be glad if you were to come along too.
MONROE COUNTY UNITED MINISTRIES PROJECT: Thanks to everyone for helping UBC donate more than a ton of food to MCUM last year! Think we can do that again this year?! We can do it by collecting 167 pounds a month, or by having regular smaller donations and several really big ones.
Visit our Missions Project page for information regarding our donations to Monroe County United Ministries (MCUM).
In addition, they can always use paper bags, Campbell's Labels for Education, and General Mills' Box Tops for Education. Our goal is 167 pounds.
