Dr. Erica J. Bayoneto recently completed her Certification examinations and is now a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatic Dentistry. The Mission of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is to verify to the public and to the health professions that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed both an advanced educational program accredited by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and a voluntary examination process designed to validate the knowledge, application, and performance requisite to the delivery of competent care in pediatric dentistry. The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is the only certifying Board recognized by the American Dental Association for the specialty of pediatric dentistry.

So much of the terrible Early Childhood Caries we see in infants is completely preventable if it can be detected early enough and treated. Early detection and treatment is very inexpensive and painless. Identifying which child will develop the disease has never been possible until recently. We now offer an in office lab test which indicates if your child is at risk of getting tooth decay. Coupled with our usual examination and our review of the child’s medical and nutritional history, this inexpensive test gives us valuable clinical evidence which allows us to make a custom tailored prevention plan for each individual that may be at high risk of getting cavities. We need to see children on their first birthday or when the first front eight baby teeth come in to be able to catch the disease before it does its damage.
